The Opportunity
Imagined on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula, The Lucent is a 32-room coastal lodge reinterpreted by a second-generation owner with a background in art curation. Set between forest and a quiet Pacific cove, the retreat calls for a distinctive sense of arrival and a gathering place that feels inseparable from its setting. The opportunity: make light the hotel’s signature.
The Approach
MOSIS STUDIO’s concept connects the exterior entrance and Ocean Glass Bar through layered, colored glass. Outside, stepped panels cast shifting color across the façade by day and become an illuminated beacon after dusk. Inside, ocean blues and sea greens meet pale timber, ivory seating and a suspended driftwood sculpture threaded with white orchids. Alternate palettes explore warmer and more theatrical moods, while the shared geometry holds the experience together.
The Takeaway
One material language, two distinct experiences: a luminous welcome and an intimate place to linger. Conceived as part of the architecture, the installations give The Lucent an identity that changes with the light and rewards a closer look. A secluded destination with a memorable point of view.
